Privacy Policy
Effective October 22, 2026
This policy explains how the Beginner Cam iPhone app ("Beginner Cam", "the app", "we") handles information. In short: there is no account and no server, your photos never leave your iPhone unless you share them, and we do not sell data, show ads or track you.
Information we do not collect
- We do not ask for your name, email address, phone number or any account.
- We do not upload, view or store your photos on any server.
- We do not use the advertising identifier, track you across other apps or websites, or show ads.
- We do not collect your location. Location data is removed from photos the app saves.
- The app does not send usage analytics to us or to any analytics service.
Permissions
- Camera: used only to show the live preview and take photos inside the app. The app asks the first time you open the camera.
- Photos (add only): used to save your photos to your library. The app cannot read or browse your existing photos.
- Notifications (optional): asked only after you save your first photo. Reminders are local notifications scheduled on your iPhone; nothing is sent from a server. You can turn them off in the app's Settings or in iOS Settings.
Information stored on your iPhone
- Your onboarding answers (what you shoot, your vibe, where you post, your level) and your settings, such as language, appearance and notification preferences.
- Photos waiting in the Held tray, kept inside the app until you save or delete them, or delete the app.
- The start times of the welcome and limited-time offers, kept in your iPhone's Keychain so an offer is not restarted. These are dates and times only.
This information stays on your device. Deleting the app removes it, except the Keychain entry and the iCloud record below, which iOS keeps so offers are not restarted after a reinstall.
iCloud
The same offer start times are also saved in your own iCloud key-value storage, so they are consistent across your devices. They contain no personal information and are handled by Apple under Apple's Privacy Policy. No photos or other data are stored in iCloud by the app.
Purchases
Purchases are made through the App Store and processed by Apple; we never see your payment details. To check whether your unlock is active and to restore it, the app uses RevenueCat, a purchase-management service. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app user ID, your purchase and transaction details, and basic device and app information (such as the iOS and app version and the IP address of the request) needed to verify purchases. It does not receive your name, email or photos. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
The App Store may also tell the app when you first downloaded it, so that new and returning users see the right offer. This stays on your device.
Sharing
When you share a photo, it goes only where you choose through the iOS share sheet, and is then handled by the app you share to. The caption can include a link to Beginner Cam on the App Store. The link never contains anything that identifies you or your device. Pro users can turn the link off in Settings.
Links
Links in the app (this policy, the Terms of Use, support) open in your browser or mail app. Their own privacy policies apply there.
Children
Beginner Cam is rated 4+ and is suitable for all ages. It is a general-audience app, not one made specifically for children. Because the app does not collect personal information from anyone, it collects none from children either. If a child under 13 uses the app, nothing about them leaves their device; purchases go through Apple, where Family Sharing and Ask to Buy apply.
Your choices
- Change or turn off notifications at any time in Settings.
- Delete photos from the Held tray, or delete the app to remove its on-device data.
- Revoke camera, Photos or notification access in iOS Settings.
Changes to this policy
If the app's handling of information changes, we will update this page and its effective date before the change takes effect.
